• The student must be at least 15 and 9 months by the first day of class.

    Eligibility for Driver Education

  • No. However, we at NHDA strongly recommend students have at least five hours of at-home instruction before starting our course.

  • You may only practice driving in New Hampshire.

  • There are 30 hours of classroom instruction (15 two-hour classes) and 10 hours of in-vehicle driving. In addition, students are required to observe other students’ in-vehicle instruction for at least six hours.

  • NH State Law states that a student can only drive two hours each week with the school (there is no set limit for at-home driving.) Supervised driving must be done in separate one-hour increments for the first six drives. After completing six drives with the instructor, students can schedule drives in two-hour increments. Once per course, students are allowed a week that includes three hours of supervised driving.

  • No.

  • At-home pickups will generally be limited to the Greater Londonderry area. Other students will be picked up and dropped off at the YMCA, 206 Rockingham Rd, Londonderry.

  • Students will schedule drives on the first night of class for the upcoming week and on the last class each week (usually Thursdays) for the following week.

  • If a student needs to cancel a drive they must do so at least 24 hours in advance, thus allowing the school to schedule another student. Drives canceled less than 24 hours in advance will incur a $50 fee per hour missed. Accrued fees must be paid to receive the certification of completion.

  • If a student misses a classroom session, the student will write and turn in a 500-word essay for each chapter missed. *Further, an absence form signed by the parent stating the reason for the missed class must be turned in to the instructor. The due date for both the essay and the absence form will be determined by the instructor; typically, it will be by the next class. Please note that sports is not a valid reason for missing a class.

  • No more than two classes may be missed. Missing more than two classes will result in removal from the program with no refund provided.

  • Yes.

  • To pass the course, a student must have a 75% score average for the chapter quizzes and a 75% score on the final exam.

  • There is a 10-business-day waiting period to retake the final exam; however, you can reschedule it immediately; there is no limit to how many times you take it.

  • You must pass the final exam and complete all other requirements within six months from the end of your class.

  • No, once the student receives their certificate of completion it never expires. When the student turns 18, the state no longer requires the certificate to obtain a license.

  • Check, Cash, Money Order, PayPal, Venmo, and Zelle.

  • The deposit of $250 is non-refundable and non-transferable. The deposit is used towards the cost of processing the student. If you would like to take a session at a later date the deposit may be applied to that session. After the session has started, any payments made will not be refunded.

  • The deposit is your seat guarantee. Without a deposit, your seat is at risk of being taken by another student who registers for the same class and pays the deposit.

  • NHDA does not offer a cash discount. We do offer a 10% rebate to children of military veterans upon completion of the course. A copy of the parent’s DD214 is required.

  • Final payment is due on the first day of class.

  • At the YMCA of Greater Londonderry, 206 Rockingham Rd, Londonderry, NH.

  • Accommodation of an IEP will be on a by-student basis and based on the specific requirements in the document. If your student has an IEP, please communicate that as soon as possible for review.

  • If a student requests to enroll in a full course we will automatically place the student on a waitlist and will also inform you of classes that do have availability. Being added to the wait list does not mean you will get into a class; it only means that if a spot opens we will contact you.

  • We do not have a parent night. A copy of our Policies and Procedures will be provided during initial registration and on the first night of class.

  • If a class is canceled we will send a mass email to the class and canceled drives will be communicated individually to those affected. We typically do not cancel classes or drives for inclement weather as we live in New England and driving in bad weather is a given. That being said, the safety of our students is paramount and we reserve the right to cancel if the instructor deems the roads unsafe for travel.

  • You may transfer to a different class up to one week before the session for which you are registered begins. Once a session has started no new students may be enrolled.

    • Original (with a raised seal) Birth Certificate or Passport (a copy will be made and returned to you)

    • Final payment

    • Your calendar - know your availability for the week; behind-the-wheel lessons for the week will be scheduled on the first night.
